O’Donnell works for KPIX 5 as a Sports Director. For Best Sports Segment he has earned four APTRA awards. On KPIX 5 news he works from Sunday through Thursday. Since 1982 he has been a fixture in Bay Area sports broadcasting, having reported every major Bay Area sports team in their respective championship. He worked at KRON-TV as an executive sports producer before joining the station. There his contributions helped the station to get honored by the Associated Press on five separate occasions as The Best Sports Cast in California.
Moreover, he has anchored sports with KFTY in Santa Rosa and KOVR in Sacramento. On KPIX 5 he has hosted KPIX 5 ‘s NFL post-game show, “Last Honest Sports Show,” the #1 rated Sunday night sports show, “Gameday” every Sunday night at 11:30 p.m, and “The 5th Quarter,” “49ers Preview.”He joined San Francisco State University after completing his high school education. O’Donnell is the emcee for all major Northern California Alzheimer’s events, including Memories in the Making and the San Francisco Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
