When he was young he got his interest in television. Nussbaum is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and is happy to now be living in the “Pittsburgh of the South.” He has wanted a career in television since the fourth grade. He went from being very afraid of storms to chasing them!” added Nussbaum. Nussbaum was motivated by a deep passion for weather and took advantage of an on-camera experience received through a position as his high school’s first weatherman.
His interest in the weather didn’t stop in his high school newsroom. After he obtained a Meteorology degree from the California University of Pennsylvania, he went on to Mississippi State University where he received a Masters’s degree in Broadcast Meteorology. Nussbaum interned at WPXI-TV in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He became the morning and noon meteorologist at WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge for 10 years after moving to South Louisiana.
In 2008, he won Best Weathercast by the Louisiana Associated Press t at WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge. He made the trek down Interstate 10 to New Orleans in 2014 where he was the morning meteorologist at WWL-TV for nearly 7 years. In 2015, he was awarded Best Weathercast again. from Katrina to Gustav, and in the crazy 2020 hurricane season, he weathered some of South Louisiana’s worst hurricanes.
Nussbaum has earned the prestigious “Seal of Approval” from the American Meteorological Society. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society, an Eagle Scout, and the National Weather Association. He is very active on Social Media. very active on Social Media.
