After attaining his high school diploma, Koeller went on to join St. Louis University beginning in 2008, to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. During his time at the university, Koeller interned at Fox 2 KTVI/ News 11 KPLR and KMBC 9 News. He also served as a weather forecaster at the St. Louis University student television station. He later graduated in 2012 after attaining his degree.

His role was to provide weather updates during evening newscasts at 4 pm, 5 pm, and 6 pm each weekday. Off-screen, Koeller enjoys spending his leisure time swimming, watching TV shows, running, spending time outdoors, and biking.
