Spindle is an Anchor and reporter working for KSL. He lived in nine different states while growing up and then served a two-year mission in Peru. But he is thrilled to be so near to his extended family in the Intermountain West because he has deep roots in Utah that date back to the time of the pioneers. Dan has led consumer news segments including “The Financial Fitness Zone” and “Does it Work” and enjoys giving people a voice. He has trailed traffickers close to the U.S.-Mexico border with federal investigators.
Additionally, he oversaw coverage for a program dubbed “Operation Safe Roads” that aimed to alter behavior and rules to make it safer for both vehicles and pedestrians. He is a journalist who has won an Emmy Award and has also received praise for his work from the Associated Press. Spindle started his television career in Medford, Oregon, but shortly moved to Arizona, first in Tucson and then for ten years as a reporter and anchor in Phoenix.
He likes to share tales that honor the dedication and sacrifice of military personnel and their families. He has participated in skydiving with the Army’s “Golden Knights” Parachute Team, followed the deployment of a helicopter battalion to Ft. Hood, Texas, and reported from Florida’s “Space Coast” as the shuttle program came to an end. Spindle has also observed refueling drills aboard a KC-135. He is affectionately referred to as a nerd by his family and loves Star Wars and history. You can also catch him on the tennis court or playing hoops when he’s not at work.
