He actively engaged in two extensive 11-day storm chase expeditions across the Great Plains, where he, along with a team of 20 peers, pursued storms wherever they may roam. Additionally, he had the privilege of receiving formal instruction in weather forecasting for television from the current ABC Chief Meteorologist, Ginger Zee.
During his college years, Corey secured a summer internship in the KCRG-TV9 Weather Lab. Here, he collaborated closely with Chief Meteorologist Joe Winters and the rest of the First Alert Storm Team. This experience was instrumental in honing his skills as a television meteorologist. Following his graduation, Corey returned to KCRG-TV9, where he dedicated several years to a vital behind-the-scenes role. In this capacity, he played a crucial role in conducting research and crafting weather graphics for on-air use.
Having spent the majority of his life in Eastern Iowa, Corey possesses a deep appreciation for the diverse weather conditions the region experiences throughout the year. While he holds Spring as his favorite season, he relishes the unpredictability and the forecasting challenges that each of Iowa’s seasons presents.
Currently, Corey resides in Cedar Rapids, where he takes pleasure in exploring local parks and trails. He has a passion for photography, video games, and sports, with a special enthusiasm for cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.
