Smith began his meteorology career with The Delta News in Greenville, Mississippi, where he joined as a weekend meteorologist, and later got promoted to work as a weekday morning meteorologist. During his years with the Delta News, Smith covered multiple rounds of severe weather, tornado outbreaks, a low-end winter weather event, and heat waves. His most memorable moment was covering Hurricane Laura in August 2020.
Of the screens, Smith enjoys spending time with friends and family, tearing it up on the pickleball court, and watching Gamecock football. Additionally, he is an active member of the community, where he helps viewers plan for daily weather and be ready when storms are heading their way.
