Christina Edwards Education
Edwards attended the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in the year 2007. There, she obtained a Certificate in TV and Broadcasting Radio Broadcasting. Later on, she joined the Georgia Institute of Technology where she studied between 2002 and 2007. There, she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences/Meteorology. While there, she was a proud member of the Georgia Tech Marching Band, Students Observing Researching Meteorology(STORM), and Kappa Kappa Psi.
Christina Edwards Career
Edwards works with 95.5 WSB Rado where she serves the station as a Weather Forecaster. She states that she is happy to be back home in Atlanta Georgia where she experienced a wide range of wild weather. Christina states that she will never forget her first experience observing thundersnow as the Blizzard of 1993/Storm of the Century dropped nearly three feet of snow in her neighborhood.
After about 15 years, she recalls watching an electrified thunderstorm heading south along I-75 on a warm, March evening. Minutes later, the thunderstorm produced an EF-2 tornado in the heart of Atlanta. This was just two miles from where she lived. Prior to joining the WSB Radio team, she was working for WHNT News 19 in Huntsville, Alabama. She served the station as a Meteorologist between September 2015 and July 2021.
Her passion for science began at a tender age when she would watch the clouds for signs of changing weather patterns. Christina would also produce homemade “weather forecasts” on posted boards for family and friends. It is this passion that helped her propelled her to where she is today.
After her graduation from the University, she went on to work as a digital meteorologist where she was working with The Weather Channel and weather.com. She then went on to join TEGNA (formerly Gannett) working for 13WMAZ. Edwards served the station as a Fill-in On Air Meteorologist in Macon, Georgia. There, she served the station between July 2015 and September 2015. Edwards has also worked for WSB-TV in Atlanta where she was serving as a weather producer.
Asides from her journalism career, she is active in the weather community as a Boy Scout Weather Merit Badge counselor. Asides from this, she is a member of the American Meteorological Society. Away from work, she enjoys watching college football.
Her favorite team happens to be Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. She states that no matter the school, she cheers on the marching band. Edwards once marched the sousaphone in her high school and college bands. Asides from this, she is a member of the co-ed marching band fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi.
