Chris’ reporting has been recognized with the Alfred I. duPont Columbia Award, numerous Emmy awards, a regional Edward R. Murrow award, and numerous Associated Press accolades during his 15-year career at WBRZ. Chris recently revealed Louisiana State Police coverups related to the death of an unarmed Black man.
Top executives resigned, and the US Department of Justice opened an investigation into the organization. His accounts have also prompted the recall of a local mayor and the tightening of state rules to close a gap that allowed elected people to seek office again following a recall. His coverage led to numerous arrests and convictions and enabled hundreds of state employees to receive raises. The famous Alfred I duPont Columbia Award, the top of broadcast journalism honors in 2023, was given to Chris for his reporting on this story by a panel of judges at Columbia University.
