Chevalier serves KHON as a weekday morning meteorologist on Wake Up 2Day. He joined the station in April 2022. For 23 years, he has served in the Air Force, National Weather Service (NWS), and as a broadcast meteorologist. Further, he holds the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal of approval. In 1991, he was deployed to Saudi Arabia and Iraq for the Persian Gulf War and in 1995 to Bosnia following the Dayton Peace Accords.
His initial TV job was at WTAP in Parkersburg. Later, he went on to serve in Huntington, West Virginia at WOWK. Following 9/11, he rejoined the military when the Air Force granted him a commission as a Weather Officer. Moreover, he rose to the rank of Captain and Flight Commander of 50 weather Airmen. In 2010, left the Air Force and was honorably discharged. Later, he took a job at KTVX TV in Salt Lake City offered by his previous News Director. In 2012, he served the NWS in Hilo for 2 years before serving the Honolulu NWS office in 2014.
In August 2020, he retired from the military/government with 22 years of proud service. After his retirement, he served in Eugene, Oregon at KMTR as an evening meteorologist. Once, he conveyed a live weather forecast on TV from a hot air balloon. His team at the NWS’s Central Pacific Hurricane Center traced three category-four hurricanes concurrently in 2015. Also, he flew a familiarization flight in an F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet while serving at Nellis AFB as a meteorologist. Even so, a Colonel flew the aircraft from the front seat and later let him take the stick and fly solo for a little while.
Additionally, the pair flew upside-down, did barrel rolls, pulled upwards of 7 to 8 Gs a number of times, and broke the sound barrier. When he is not working, he enjoys watching and playing sports, the outdoors, and watching movies at the theater or in his home theater. Else, he serves alongside his nephew reviewing movies. On a side note, he resides in Honolulu, Hawaii.
