Silber serves as the evening news anchor at WFMY News 2 in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he leads the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. newscasts. She joined WFMY in September 2013 as a reporter and was later promoted through several anchor roles, i.e weekend anchor in 2014, 2 Wants to Know Anchor in 2015, and later his current role, Evening Anchor, in 2017.
Among his recent works at the station include covering President Donald Trump’s inauguration in Washington, D.C., NC State’s historic run in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, Duke’s trip to the Final Four and National Championship win in Indianapolis, four hurricanes (Colin in Florida; Hermine, Matthew and Florence in North Carolina), and the Carolina Panthers’ NFC Championship win in Charlotte and Super Bowl 50 loss in San Francisco. Additionally, he contributed to award-winning coverage honoring Reverend Billy Graham (in 2019), which earned his team a North Carolina Association of Broadcasters award for breaking news, an Emmy nomination, and was named a finalist for the TEGNA Pinnacle Awards in the Breaking News/Big Story category.
Prior to joining WFMY, Silber spent four years at KOLN/KGIN in Lincoln, Nebraska, serving as the morning anchor for three of those years. Before that, he worked at WJFW in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, where he anchored the evening news for two and a half years.
Occasionally, he has received several awards/recognition from several associations, including the Nebraska Broadcasters Association, the Associated Press, and the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association. Additionally, he was named Best News Anchor in North Carolina by the NC Association of Broadcasters (2019 and 2021) and Best News Anchor in North Carolina in back-to-back years by the NC Association of Broadcasters.
Other Ventures
Beyond the newsroom, Silber has launched impactful community initiatives, most notably his annual bell-ringing marathon for the Salvation Army. Starting in 2016 with a 17-hour single-day event in Greensboro, he expanded the effort in 2017 to five Triad cities, breaking fundraising records. By 2018, the tour grew to nine cities over five days, and the tradition has continued every December, bringing widespread support to local communities.
