Ward attended Palomar College in 1984 and graduated with an Associate in Radio and Television. Ward works as a News Director/Anchor at KEYT-TV. Before joining the station, he worked at KPNX-TV in Phoenix, Arizona as the Investigative/Call 12 For Action Reporter. Before working there, he helped launch the Troubleshooter 5 Unit at KPHO-TV in Phoenix. Here, he worked from August 1997 to August 2001 as a Call 12 For Action/ Investigative Reporter. Before that, he worked for KJEO-TV in Fresno as the 47 On Your Side Reporter.
In 2011, he was awarded the 2011 Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Investigative Reporting. Ward earned a 2010 Emmy nomination for Journalistic Enterprise and also won the 2010 RTNA Golden Mike Award for Best Investigative Reporting. He is a 9-time AP Award winner and a 4-time Emmy Award recipient. He was honored C.J. with the 2010 Mary G. Kendall Award for his many years of service by the Santa Barbara Arthritis Foundation. The Westmont Medal was awarded to him and the entire news team in 2018 by Westmont College.
