He started his career working at WLVI-TV where he served as the producer for Bob Gamere, a Sunday night Weekend Scoreboard. He left the station in 1992 and joined KAAL-TV based in Austin, Minnesota where he served as a weekday sports anchor and producer. In addition to that, he was also the host of The Point After and later on worked at Detroit’s PASS Sports from 1994 to 1996.
In 1996, Stearns joined WABU where he served as a sports reporter and covered Boston Red Sox games, and hosted 68 Sportsnight. His next stop was at Boston 25 based in Dedham, Massachusetts where he served as a sports anchor and reporter. He also made an appearance as a sideline reporter on the NFL at Gillette Stadium for the New England Patriots’ week 17 matchup.
