Michigan’s passion for weather began in 2011, when a powerful nor’easter swept along Brian’s hometown on the East Coast, dumping over two feet of snow. His passion was further fueled when Superstorm Sandy tore through the Jersey Shore in October 2012, forcing him to leave his home when the storm was at its worst. To date, Superstorm Sandy remains one of the most tragic disasters to ever occur in U.S. history.
Before joining WAVY-TV, Michigan had worked for WSAV Storm Team 3 in Savannah, GA, as a broadcast meteorologist, delivering the weekend evening news and the 4:30 and 5:30 pm weekday shows. He also produced a weekly “Wednesday Weather Why’s” segment, which showcased and explained the science behind specific weather topics.
