For their coverage of a major rowhouse fire in Pennsylvania Hardin and a fellow reporter were honored with a first-place Associated Press award and an Emmy nomination. He was then honored with a first-place award by the Oklahoma Associated Press and was named “Environmental Reporter of the Year” by the Oklahoma Sierra Club.
His newscast in Kansas City received a Certificate of Merit from the Missouri Association of Broadcasters. Ever since he joined TV news, Brent has lived in Tulsa, Harrisburg, and Kansas City.
