Bob Mueller is an American News reporter working for WKRN in Nashville Tennessee as a News Anchor. He joined News 2 in 1980 as a field reporter covering the State Capitol. Before joining the station, he worked as an investigative and state government reporter and anchor at WTVC-TV in Chattanooga.

In high school, was where he started his career in broadcasting working as a radio news reporter/disc jockey. He graduated with a B.A. in Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. In college, he continued pursuing his radio interests and gained more experience in the field as a news and sports reporter, and finally as the station’s news director.

Mueller co-anchors for WKRN News 2 at 5, 6, and 10 p.m. He has also hosted the Sunday morning political show “This Week with Bob Mueller,” at News 2 for forty years. Throughout, his reporting skills have made him gain many honors and distinctions. Before joining the station, he worked as an investigative and state government reporter and anchor at WTVC-TV in Chattanooga. He began his TV profession at WMBD-TV in Peoria, Illinois where he worked as a reporter, producer, and anchor.
Being a journalist, he has earned Emmy Awards ten times and has been a member of the Silver Circle reserved for those working in broadcast journalism for over 2 decades. For his investigative reporting skills, he won the coveted George Foster Peabody National Award. Also, he has earned eight National Telly Awards and six National Communicator Awards. He has earned awards from the Radio Television News Directors Association (RTNDA), United Press International, and the Associated Press. Mueller was inducted into the Tennessee Journalism Hall of Fame in 2018.
He reported the first space shuttle launch in 1981. Mueller was there when President Jimmy Carter came back to Plains, Georgia, after leaving the White House. He was the first reporter to talk with Jimmy Carter about the release of the hostages in Iran. Apart from reporting several Democratic and Republican Presidential Conventions and two Presidential Inaugurations, Mueller has brought his audience to one interview with George H.W. Bush, Al Gore, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Gerald Ford, and Jimmy Carter.
He is also known as one of Middle Tennessee’s most active members in assisting his community. Mueller has worked helping feed the hungry with Second Harvest Food Bank thirty years ago and was an associate of their Board of Trust for six years. He works for NAMI (Nashville Mental Illness Organization) as a member of the advisory board. For 17 years, he has worked with the Boy Scouts and served as an associate of the Scout’s marketing committee. On his charity/celebrity golf tournament, he worked with country music singer Vince Gill. He has been instrumental in funding through his report of The Vinny and raising awareness.
He has hosted his own golf tournament for 25 years. To fight M.S. the Bob Mueller M.S. Celebrity Challenge has raised over $1,500,000 and he has also been an associate of the Nashville Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Board of Trust for the past two decades. For three years, he served as an associate of the Board of Trust of Rocketown of Nashville. He earned the honor of being installed in the Highland High School Hall of Fame for his continuous commitment to the community in 2009 and four TEA School Bell Awards.
