Bob Halloran Career
Halloran works as an anchor/reporter at WCVB. He is an accomplished author, movie consultant, and sportswriter. When he first joined the station he worked as a freelance anchor/reporter and was selected as a full-time anchor/reporter position in 2014.
Before joining the station, his broadcast career included stops at WPRI in Providence, ESPN, WFXT in Boston, and Rhode Island. For four years, he worked at WCVX in Hyannis, Massachusetts, as a sports director then transitioned to news director.
He started his career at “Cape 11 Alive” in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts, where he began as a photographer and later became a news reporter, anchor, and then news director. Halloran is the author of several books, including “Irish Thunder: The Hard Life and Times of Micky Ward,” for which he was hired as a technical consultant to the Oscar-nominated movie “The Fighter” and “Count The Rings” which chronicles the first ten New England sports championships of this century.
Moreover, he has written “Breakdown,” and “Destiny Derailed;” and all the proceeds from his book, and “The Fellowship of the No Longer Miserable,” go to the Jimmy Fund and “Impact Statement: A Family’s Fight for Justice Against Whitey Bulger, Stephen Flemmi and the FBI.”
For sportscasting and two honors from the Associated Press, he won five Boston/New England Emmy Awards. He worked for a decade on the board of Hearth, a charitable organization determined to end elder homelessness. Halloran graduated from Washington & Lee University and lives in the Boston area.
