Malicki is an Anchor and managing editor working for KCRG-TV9 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Prior to her tenure at KCRG, Malicki held the position of evening weekday co-anchor at KOMU in Columbia, Missouri. During her time there, she also served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism. One of the most memorable events in her career was when Missouri’s governor tragically passed away in a plane crash.
She provided live coverage overnight, and at that time, it seemed like an event of such immense significance that nothing could overshadow it. However, the flood of 2008 would prove to be another monumental moment in her career. The station embarked on days of almost uninterrupted disaster coverage. In response to the numerous flood-related stories and the unique political importance of Iowa in the nation, she initiated, produced, and moderated the weekly public affairs program titled “To the Point with Malicki.”
This initiative not only showcased her talents but also earned her recognition, including regional Emmy awards, Iowa Broadcast News Association awards, Northwest Broadcast News Association awards, and several community accolades. Moreover, beyond her journalism career, Beth is committed to philanthropy, with a particular focus on supporting children living in poverty through education and opportunity. She holds a significant role as a founding director of the Zach Johnson Foundation board and oversees its Kids on Course program.
This program is dedicated to providing tutoring, enrichment activities, summer learning camps, mentoring, and parent engagement strategies in schools within the Cedar Rapids area, with a significant number of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. Beth has also made substantial contributions as the co-chair of the United Way of East Central Iowa, where she played a pivotal role in raising $10.33 million for the 2009 campaign. In addition, she has written grants that have garnered more than $1.8 million in support for children in eastern Iowa from 2013 to 2017.
