Hoover works for CBS 42 as an anchor. On CBS 42 News she anchors with Carly Laing at 4:30 p.m. and with Sherri Jackson on CBS 42 News at 5, 6, and 10 p.m. With over 22 years of broadcasting experience, he joins CBS 42 as an award-winning anchor, reporter, and producer in five television markets in both Georgia and the Carolinas. He anchored weeknights at 4 and 5 p.m. while at WSPA-TV in Greenville/Spartanburg, SC.
For continuous coverage of several big stories the 2020 Presidential Campaign Hurricane Florence that brought catastrophic damage to South Carolina, and the Murdaugh Murder Mysteries he anchored and reported live. Before that, he worked at ABC Columbia as an evening anchor and reported one of the biggest stories of his broadcasting career when the “Thousand Year Flood” hit Columbia, SC in October 2015.
Moreover, he has reported the following federal trials for the convicted shooter, the removal of the Confederate flag from the SC State House grounds, and the shooting massacre at Mother Emanuel Church. His special report “Hope in Hard Times” shined a spotlight on the plight of the homeless in the aftermath of the Great Recession of 2008 especially those who were homeless for the first time in their lives and trying to get back into the workforce.
Through the decades he has won many awards for his reporting and anchoring, including Best Investigative Report, SC Associated Press awards for Best Health Report, Best Environmental Report, and Best Newscast. The Columbia Metropolitan Magazine readers voted him “Best TV News Anchor” and “Best TV News Anchor” by Free Times newspaper readers.
He received the Ziv Scholarship when he was a student at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music after graduating at the top of the Broadcast Journalism class. During his free time, he enjoys staying busy with his 13-year-old daughter, Hollis, and 17-year-old son, Anderson, and spending time with his family.
