Brandt is considered the most experienced meteorologist on Arkansas airwaves, having covered major weather events in Arkansas for over 30 years (since 1997), including tornadoes, floods, snowstorms, hurricanes, and blizzards.
Prior to joining KATV, Brandt worked as a Chief Meteorologist at KQTV in St. Joseph, Missouri, a position he assumed immediately after graduating from college. He has been a member of the American Meteorological Society since 1988, earning the AMS Television Seal of Approval in 1990 and later being recognized as an AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist in 2010; his work has also been honored with the Associated Press Best Weathercast Award in both 2004 and 2008.
