She earned the UVA All-University Teaching Award twice (2002, and 2010) in recognition of her teaching excellence. In 2017, she received the Teradata University Network Hugh J. Watson Award for her contributions to the data and analytics academic community. Recently, she was honored with the 2021 Association for Information Systems AIS Outreach Practice Publication Award for her research on data monetization.

Dr. Wixom is an International Expert Panel Member for The Centre for Information Resilience (CIRES), an Australian Research Council (ARC) Industrial Transformation Training Centre. She collaborates with Australian researchers from the University of Queensland and the University of Melbourne, contributing to published research. Additionally, she serves as an external examiner for Australian doctoral work.

The author of the new book “Data is Everybody’s Business” (MIT Press, September 2023), Dr. Wixom aims to inspire individuals across organizations to actively engage in data monetization.
