Ruiz works for WVLA/WGMB as the Chief Meteorologist. She forecasts the weather on NBC Local 33 at 5 P.M., 6 P.M., and 10 P.M. and FOX 44 at 5:30 P.M. and 9 P.M. during weekdays. She was brought up in Metairie, Louisiana and she even attended Louisiana State University for a short period. Ruiz’s passion for meteorology helped her join Mississippi State University and obtained her degree in meteorology. She moved down the highway to Columbus, Mississippi after graduation and was a meteorologist at the CBS affiliate.
Ruiz gained experience tracking tropical systems, severe weather, and even winter weather at the ABC affiliate in Pensacola, Florida where she worked as a meteorologist. When she is not forecasting, she enjoys doing yoga, watching movies, cheering on the Saints and LSU, helping animals, and spending time with her husband and two dachshunds, Cappie. On the morning show every Wednesday, she hosts a segment called “Whisker Wednesday.”
