Andrew Shipley Career
Shipley works for WFTX as a Weekend Evening Meteorologist. He was raised in Sicklerville, New Jersey, and was always passionate about the weather. He began predicting in High School the big Nor’easters, the occasional hurricane impacting the Northeast, and winter blizzards. When Hurricane Charley impacted Southwest Florida in 2004 he visited. After completing his high school education he moved to Melbourne, Florida, where he joined the Florida Institute of Technology and obtained his B.S. in meteorology with a minor in communications.
At college he was a student-athlete, running division II track and field. His first experience in broadcast meteorology came at WESH in Orlando, FL as an intern. He then spent a brief time at ABC’s World News Tonight in New York, NY as a freelance weather producer. in Rapid City, SD at KNBN was where he earned his first on-air camera opportunity as the morning meteorologist.
Shipley moved to Eugene, OR at KEZI two years later continuing as a morning meteorologist. He is back to a place he always considered his second home. Apart from forecasting, he loves fishing, hiking, golfing and enjoying the beach. Also, he is an avid sports fan and loves cheering on the Indianapolis Colts and the Philadelphia Phillies.
