Also, he anchors the station’s online news channel, and the Action News 5 Digital Desk, every weekday morning. He has been proud to work for Action News 5 since 2006. This is his first station to send a broadcast TV signal into Mississippi and broadcast in the State of Tennessee. Throughout the year, he has hosted and emceed events and fundraisers all across the Mid-South.

The Tennessee Associated Press has honored and recognized him as one of the best news anchors in Tennessee. Also, he was honored by the Tennessee AP as one of the state’s top reporters. He received honors and awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Emmys. In various reader polls among two prominent Memphis publications, he earned “Best TV News Anchor” status.

Douglas had the great honor of attending the Summer Olympic Games in London in the year 2012. For six days, he filed reports from various venues, keeping an updated blog about his experiences on the station website and conducting live reports for the morning news. He received honors and awards for his anchoring duties as an evening weekend anchor. While working in the mountains of East Tennessee, he gained an Associated Press Award for his report of Hurricane Bonnie.

In 1997, he was among the first journalists employed at the 24-hour Orlando cable news station, Central Florida News 13. He reported the NASA space program including live reports from landings and shuttle launches. During the same period, he reported Florida’s worst-ever tornado disaster.

His most outstanding interviews include the late civil rights photographer Earnest Withers, country music star Kenny Chesney, and Martin Luther King III, American astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, former Vice President Dick Cheney, and actor John Travolta, Garth Brooks, ZZ Top. Douglas loves the Memphis Grizzlies, the world’s best barbecue in Memphis, Beale Street, the Blues, and the Memphis Tigers basketball. He was born and raised in South Florida.
