Before she joined the station, she served KING 5 in Seattle as a sports anchor and reporter. Her on-air career started in Eureka, California at KIEM-TV reporting the news. Additionally, she worked at KION-TV in Monterey, San Diego, and at KRCR-TV in Redding.
After more than 3 years at KFMB-TV, she made the switch to pursue her career in sports in San Diego. She Extensively reported the San Diego Padres and Chargers at XETV. She earned many Emmy awards for sports reporting during her time there. Nakano was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and also resided in Japan, Belgium, and England. Finally, she came back to California where she graduated with a degree in broadcast and electronic communication arts from San Francisco State University.
