Ali Turiano Career

Turiano is a Meteorologist at KDFW-TV FOX 4. Her interest in weather began at the age of eleven when her family moved from New York to Tampa Bay, Florida. Like clockwork, powerful thunderstorms rolled through each afternoon lighting up the sky. Towering clouds and lightning sprawled across the sky. She was fascinated by it all. Then the blockbuster movie “Twister” came out and solidified her career path in an instant. She wanted to chase tornadoes. Her mother would not allow that, therefore she continued her studies in many advanced math and science courses while in high school, to prepare herself for college.

While in her senior year, Ali was fortunate enough to have an internship at WFTS in Tampa. While there she combined two passions; weather and being on camera. She knew being a broadcast meteorologist was the right choice. Therefore she joined Penn State University to pursue her passion for meteorology. While at Penn State, she participated in the CampusWeather Service and a College of Communications show, called “The Centre County Report.” She also had the opportunity to have an apprenticeship at the National Weather Service.

After graduating from college, Turiano began her career in Elmira, New York at WENY, where she served as a morning meteorologist. During her time in the Finger Lakes, she also had the opportunity to fill in at their sister station WICU in Erie, Pennsylvania. After almost two years of snow, ice, and extreme cold, she was ready for those wild thunderstorms that started her meteorologist dream. After working in Elmira, News 13 in Orlando called and she jumped at the opportunity of being closer to family and the beach.

While working in Orlando, Ali forecasted everything from sunny skies to floods and hurricanes including Tropical Storm Fay which she says she will never forget. After working for six years in Florida, she was eager for a new challenge and she knew Dallas would be that opportunity.

During her free time, she enjoys fitness, and health plays a major role in her life. Recently she has become a yogi and she loves any kind of fitness class that gets the blood pumping. As an Italian descent, Turiano loves to cook and learn about different foods from other cultures. She is also a big sports fan cheering on her Alma Mater the Nittany Lions and America’s Team the Dallas Cowboys.
