Alex Cawley Career
Cawley works as a Sports Reporter and Anchor at FOX43. He grew up in Harrisburg and is so happy to be back in the Midstate where his love for sports started. Before joining the station, he worked for WTAJ at Altoona-State College as a Sports Director.
There, he provided sports reports for over 80 high schools, Saint Francis University, and Penn State, including Fiesta Bowl appearances, PSU football’s Big Ten Championship, and Rose Bowl. Years ago, he reported NASCAR and the many racing series that passed through Watkins Glen International at WETM in Elmira, New York as Sports Director.
His journalism career started in Beaumont, Texas at KFDM as a Sports Reporter and Weekend Anchor. There, he became familiar with the religion that is Texas high school football, enjoyed some of the best BBQs, and reported Lamar University’s baseball and basketball teams advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
He won a New York State Broadcasters Association Award for ‘Outstanding Sportscast,’ a Texas Associated Press Broadcasters Award for ‘Best Sports Story,’ and a pair of Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Awards for ‘Outstanding Television Coverage of a Local Sporting Event.’
He attended Arizona State University after graduating from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. During his free time, he supports the same teams from his childhood here in central PA, testing his knowledge and luck at trivia night, continuing a 25-year search for his golf swing, hiking, and even occasionally shooting some hoops and looking for a place with the PAC-12 Network so he can cheer on his Sun Devils.
