He is a graduate of Valparaiso University where he majored in Meteorology in May 2017. Sherwinski was quite active with the university’s television station, VUTV, while he was a student at Valparaiso. He took over as the weather director for the school station in his senior year.

Sherwinski is a meteorologist working for WCIA. Back in middle school, Sherwinski was afraid of storms. Eventually, he began to read about storms and how they form. What turned into learning out of fear, became an interest. He continues to be amazed by the power and beauty of mother nature. Additionally, he has appeared live on channels like ESPN3 and TNT during Valpo basketball games—not as a player, but rather as the school’s mascot, “The Crusader”!
Adam enjoyed storm chasing with the school’s storm-chasing squad, performing improv comedy, and watching TV when he wasn’t busy being a mascot or working. He also completed internships at WCIA 3 in Champaign, Illinois, and the Weather Team at WGN in Chicago, Illinois. Adam joined our sister station KODE 12 in Joplin, Missouri, in the summer of 2017. Adam worked as their morning meteorologist, weekday reporter, and weekend meteorologist. the Show-Me State while Adam covered hot weather, ice storms, and tornadoes.
At the end of 2020, Adam joined WMBD/WYZZ News in Peoria as their weekend meteorologist, bringing him back to Illinois. He produced the weather team’s podcast at the time and covered stories on science, agriculture, and people in that region of the state. When he’s not working at the station, he enjoys traveling, playing video games, watching sports, and even dabbling in some outdoor activities. He enjoys visiting the surrounding county and state parks. He hikes the majority of the time, but he always has a fishing line and reel on hand.
