Aaron Mentkowski is an American Meteorologist working for WKBW-TV in Buffalo, New York as a Meteorologist. He joined the station in March 2000. He previously worked at WZVN as a meteorologist.

Afterward, he joined the State University of New York at Oswego, where he studied Lake Effect Snow patterns and graduated in 1996 with a BS in Meteorology.

Mentkowski is the Chief Meteorologist for WKBW-TV. He is the 35th in the country, to earn a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society and also the first and only Certified Broadcast Meteorologist in Buffalo. The Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation is a mark of distinction and recognition. He is an adjunct professor of meteorology at Jamestown Community College and Buffalo State College.
Aaron also works for various law firms as a forensic meteorologist. He is honored to have been inducted in 2006 into the North Tonawanda High School Wall of Fame. He was nominated in Buffalo’s Art Voice magazine for Best Local Weatherman. In January 2009 he was featured on “LIVE with Regis and Kelly”, chatting about the snow in Buffalo. He also forecasts the weather live every afternoon at WJYE 96.1FM and WYRK 106.5FM.
For as long as Mentkowski can remember, he has always been fascinated with the weather. Having grown up in Western New York it meant he saw his share of snow storms and his interest in weather prompted him to pursue a career in meteorology. Before coming back to Buffalo, he gained broadcast experience in Macon, Georgia, and Fort Myers, Florida.
Aaron has also forecast weather conditions for ski resorts and radio stations in North America. During his free time, he enjoys ice hockey and playing soccer and is a First Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate.
