In addition, Makaula has also been able to cover So You Think You Can Dance finales and the American Idol for his viewers across the country. Additionally, he has also been able to interview newsmakers. Among them include, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Ben Affleck, David Beckham, and Hillary Clinton.
He enjoys and loves selecting warm-weather cities with great beaches to live and work in. Previously, before joining the Miami team, he spent about six years anchoring all of the FOX affiliate’s evening newscasts in San Diego.
Makaula has also anchored 5 p.m. newscasts for NBC affiliate KHNL. In addition, she has co-anchored this station’s top-rated evening newscast at 9 p.m. each weekday. Prior to that, he was working as a general assignment reporter for KGMB, the CBS affiliate in Honolulu.
Prior to joining his television broadcasting career, he was creating and producing the award-winning Entertainment News Review show. Away from work, he enjoys traveling and most especially to exotic places. For the past two years, he has been able to travel to Thailand, Colombia, Mexico, Peru & Chile, Myanmar, Hong Kong, and Laos. In addition, he has also lived in Paris, Milan, and Tokyo.
