Kinchen quit News in 2019 in order for him to serve citizens of the Philadelphia area in the executive branch of city government. There he was working as Communications Manager for the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Cabinet. Among the offices, he worked for include Criminal Justice, the Department of Prisons, and the Offices of Violence Prevention. Additionally, he has served as a spokesman for Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney and wrote speeches and statements for him and the administration.
He also assisted in the development of the Office of Policy and Strategic Initiatives for Criminal Justice and Public Safety and also prepared city council testimony and policy documents for senior administration officials. Previously, before joining Fox29, he worked for the NBC Affiliate station in Flint, Michigan. There he was working as the market’s leading political reporter. He was covering general assignments stories and was serving as one of the station’s weather forecasters. Additionally, he was covering weekend newscasts as well.
Among his favorite assignments have included interviewing former president Barack Obama and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. Additionally, he has enjoyed interviewing Ford Motor Company President Alan Mulally and played guitar with legendary rocker Ted Nugent.
Previously, he was also working for the following stations, WLNS-TV in Lansing, MI, and WNEM-TV in Saginaw, MI. He began his journalism career at WXYZ-TVin Detroit, There, he was working as a production assistant and staff writer and was working while studying.
Before joining the journalism career, Kinchen gained public policy experience working with the Michigan Municipal League and the National League of Cities.
With vast experience in history, he joined the Philadelphia area having a rich fascination for the pivotal role the city played in the birth of the United States. This was from the Second Continental Congress which resulted in the Declaration of Independence to the Constitutional Convention of 1787.
Away from work, he enjoys writing music, playing guitar, and talking about classic rock, and interviewing members of the classic 70s and 80s bands. He interviews them on the “Rock of Nations” podcasts which previously were co-hosted by the FOX29 Photojournalist Shane McEachern.
