Since joining the station in August 2019, Kay has been recognized as a trusted source for weather across Central Mississippi and was part of Emmy Award-winning shows with the morning team
It is also from this station that she received her Certified Broadcast Meteorology seal from AMS (August 2023). Kay began her career at 16 WAPT as a weekend morning meteorologist. Later in August 2023, she got promoted to anchor the weekend morning forecasts. In this role, Kay guided viewers through major events like the 2023 Rolling Fork tornado and the 2026 Garden City–Monticello tornado. She was promoted to Chief Meteorologist in August 2026.
Before joining 16 WAPT, Kay served as a meteorologist at WJTV 12 (2016 to 2017) and was an intern at FOX 5 Atlanta (WAGA-TV, 2016). Notably, she is a two-time Emmy Award winner for best morning newscast, a three-time MAB Award winner, contributing to WAPT’s recognition as Jackson’s Most Accurate Forecast for six consecutive years, and was the 2026 Mississippi Association of Broadcasters Weather Anchor of the Year.
