Before joining FOX 12, Parsons worked at KSTU Fox 13 in Salt Lake City. Here, she began as an intern, later hired as a reporter/weekend anchor, and eventually launched a weekday morning show in 1996. While still delivering news, Parsons served as a part-time substitute teacher to pay the bills. Notably, Parsons has been honored with multiple awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Utah Broadcasters Association.
