During his time in Jacksonville, he covered the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the trial of Ahmaud Arbery’s killers, and the challenges associated with Northeast Florida’s population growth. Before his tenure in Jacksonville, he worked as a multimedia journalist and weekend morning anchor in Knoxville, TN.
Grant received an Emmy for his contribution to team coverage of a significant trash fire that led to evacuations and environmental concerns in North Knoxville. He also earned an Edward R. Murrow award for his work on an enterprise piece about Knoxville College’s sole graduate at its Summer 2019 ceremony. Knoxville College, a historically black school founded in 1875, had faced a decline in the 1970s, and Grant’s reporting highlighted the school’s efforts to improve retention rates and revitalize the campus.
Additionally, Grant reported in the Black Hills of South Dakota for two years and anchored the station’s weekend evening shows. His coverage in South Dakota included major events like the Buffalo Roundup, Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, and the increasing meth rates on the Pine Ridge Reservation. When he’s not reporting, Grant enjoys spending his time on the golf course, at the gym, or socializing with friends.
