After completing his degree, Mike’s dedication and expertise in meteorology led him to earn the American Meteorological Society’s “Seal of Approval.”
He also obtained his Certification as a Broadcast Meteorologist, signifying that he met stringent educational and experiential requirements and passed rigorous tests demonstrating his knowledge and communication skills in meteorology and related sciences, essential for a successful broadcast meteorologist.

Buresh’s passion for weather began at a young age while growing up in rural Iowa. Even in the second grade, he was drawing weather maps and constantly observing the sky. His love for weather has stayed with him, earning him the title of a “weather-holic.” He’s all about “All the Weather, All the Time!”
Mike started his television meteorology career at WHO-TV in Des Moines, Iowa, then worked at WKRC-TV in Cincinnati, Ohio before coming to Northeast Florida over 20 years ago. Moreover, throughout his career, Mike has effectively. And accurately warned, tracked, and informed viewers about various weather phenomena, including tornadoes, waterspouts, and floods. In addition, many local tropical cyclones like hurricanes Ian, Nicole, Michael, Irma, Matthew, Bonnie, Charley, Frances, Jeanne, Fay, Beryl, Debby, and Andrea, to name a few.
