Afterward, she joined WLEX in Lexington, Kentucky in October 2010 and worked as the Weekend Anchor and General Assignment Reporter. In December 2013, she worked in Washington, DC/Baltimore, MD as a freelance reporter.

Burdine has reported stories across the country, for example, the 2017 Inauguration, White House press briefings and fence-jumpers, several Kentucky Derby races, hurricanes in the Carolinas and tornadoes in Kentucky, the NCAA tournament, presidential elections, riots in Baltimore, the Philadelphia train derailment, and the landmark same-sex marriage decision at the Supreme Court.
