Laurel Blanchard is an American Meteorologist working for WJHL-TV in Johnson City, Tennessee as a weekend night meteorologist from 6 to 11 p.m. and several weeknights during the 7 and 7:30 p.m. shows. She joined the station in May 2022. Previously she was a student at Millersville University in Lancaster, PA.

Blanchard is a weekend night meteorologist from 6 to 11 p.m. and several weeknights during the 7 and 7:30 p.m. shows. Her lifelong passion has been the weather. Growing up she and her great-grandfather would spend mornings together before school watching weather reports and guessing snow totals. She is thrilled and looks forward to forecasting the weather extremes that the Appalachian region has to offer as she starts her broadcast meteorology career.
While growing up in New England, Laurel has come to love forecasting snow, however, she also has an interest in severe weather which led her to pursue a degree in meteorology. While at Millersville University, she was the President of the Millersville University Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society. She often posted weather video forecasts from the MU Weather Deck. She also was involved in the honors college, wrote a thesis focusing on broadcast meteorology, and graduated Cum Laude.
Blanchard is currently professionally involved in the National American Meteorological Society. Prior to coming to the Tri-Cities, she interned in the heart of Illinois ABC in Peoria, Illinois, with the former Chief Meteorologist at WJHL Brian Walder. During her free time, she loves watching movies such as Star Wars and Marvel Movies which are her favorites. Since she was young she has been involved in theatre and is looking forward to attending local theatre productions. She also loves being outside and finding new places to explore.
