Later after graduating with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism, he was hired as a General Assignment Reporter. Through his commitment to the job and unbiased storytelling, he was called on to fill in on the anchor desk.
Dalfred news director noticed his passion for the people of Acadiana in 2015 and his willingness to find answers to their problems. With that, Dial Dalfred was born with these in-depth investigative reports. Through this, we hear people’s concerns in their communities or workplaces and find the root of the problem by contacting the responsible party, or consumer alert stories where we advise people on how to go about handling a situation.
Jones has grown attached to telling the stories of people going through life-changing situations throughout his career, having to put himself in their shoes, which is sometimes impossible, and trying to feel the emotions they feel and relay that to the public as honestly and compassionately as possible. He has covered stories that have resonated throughout the country. He was awarded a 2nd place Best General News Story by Louisiana Associated Press Broadcasters for his coverage of the 2016 officer-involved shooting of Alton Sterling.
Dalfred truly appreciates the community accepting him into their homes literally or through their televisions or on social media/digital platforms. He looks forward to working with the people of Acadiana and surrounding areas each day he hops on his bike and rides to the station. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and their dog. He also can’t live without sports: baseball, basketball, golf, football, and learning new things whether it be the latest technology or new culture. He is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and founder of FELLAS (Future Effective Leaders of Lafayette And Surrounding areas) youth mentorship.
