Royer works for WFLA as a weekend anchor and reporter. Prior to joining the station, he worked at WIAT CBS 42 as an anchor & reporter. He worked at WVUA 23 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for seven months as an anchor and reporter before joining CBS 42. The Birmingham native has assisted in gaining many honors including a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Newscast, and from the Alabama Broadcaster’s Association. His reporting skills have earned him an EMMY Nomination and many honors from the Associated Press.
During the 2018 Special Election for the U.S. Senate, he reported Doug Jones and Roy Moore on the campaign trail. His work reporting Hurricane Ida from New Orleans, Louisiana, was seen on Nexstar Media Group television stations around America in 2021. In 2012, he was awarded the Judges Award of Merit for Best Small Market Sportscaster from the Alabama Broadcaster’s Association.
Across the United States, he reported for NewsNation, a national news and entertainment cable network reaching 75 million television households. Also, he reported state politics including Alabama Football, the scandal that led to Governor Robert Bentley’s resignation, and ongoing tornado recovery efforts.
