Smith is an anchor working for 13News Now in Hampton, Virginia. She began working for 13News Now as a Traffic and news reporter, she was promoted to Daybreak anchor in February 2018. She later became a Daybreak and Noon Anchor for the station. prior to working at 13News Now, Smith worked as an anchor and reporter at WCTV Chesapeake Television from July 2007 to February 2013. Additionally, she provides articles to the Making A Mark series on 13News Now that feature inspirational events and local Hampton Roads residents.
As a traffic reporter, she initially joined the Daybreak staff in 2013. Ashley is on the Miss Virginia Organization’s board of directors. From 2018 to 2020, she served as Hampton Roads Black Media Professionals’ president. Smith spent seven years competing in pageants. Most notably, she received the 2011 Miss USA title. Along with Miss Virginia United States 2011, Miss Hampton Roads 2010, Miss Chesapeake 2009, Miss Norfolk 2008, Miss Virginia Peanut 2007, and Miss Virginia Beach 2006, she also held those titles.
