Matt Reed Career
Reed works for WCVB Channel 5 as a general assignment reporter. Before joining the station, he worked for WJAR-TV NBC 10 in Providence, RI as a reporter since February 2015. Before that, he reported and produced weekend newscasts for KCEN-TV in Waco, TX.
There he reported, the Fort Hood shooting, the Texas House Bill 2 passing, the West Fertilizer plant explosion, and the trial of Nidal Hassan. He served as an adjunct professor at Baylor University while in Texas, where he taught an introductory journalism course about reporting and writing.
He spent his last semester of graduate school at Boston University as a news writer at WHDH-TV Channel 7 in Boston. Also, he spent two months in London as one of three student correspondents for WBZ-TV in Boston during the 2012 Summer Olympics.
In London, he reported Massachusetts native Kayla Harrison becoming the first American male or female to win an Olympic gold medal in judo. Throughout his career, he reported a lot of territories, having lived in Rhode Island, Maryland, Florida, Texas, Massachusetts, Illinois, and California.
Reed graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody, MA. He then enrolled at the University of Miami where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and also studied Theater Arts and Business Law. He also earned a Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University.
