Reinstein works at WCVB Channel 5 as a Chronicle Anchor/Reporter. He has been Boston’s WCVB Channel 5’s “Chronicle reporter, ”the nation’s longest-running locally-produced nightly newsmagazine. On Sunday mornings he provides commentary for the station’s political roundtable show, “On The Record.” Since 2010 he has been a member of the WCVB editorial board.
He hosted the premiere season of the Discovery Channel’s “Popular Mechanics” show on TV. He was among the Chronicle team that received a prestigious National DuPont-Columbia Broadcast Journalism Award in 2002 for the Chronicle’s report of Boston’s Big Dig project. Reinstein was one of five national finalists in the Washington Post’s “Great American Pundit” opinion-writing Competition in 2010.
He attained an Emmy Award for his story on the “Good Night Lights” phenomenon in Providence, Rhode Island in 2018. In May 2013, his first book New England Notebook: One Reporter, Six States, Uncommon Stories was released by Globe-Pequot Press, an imprint of Rowman & Littlefield.
National Geographic Traveler named the book recounts many of Ted’s favorite people and stories one of its “Best Picks.” Reinstein’s second book, Wicked Pissed: New England’s Most Famous Feuds was released by Globe Pequot Press in April 2016. His newest book, written in collaboration with his wife, Anne-Marie, is New England’s General Stores: Exploring an American Classic.
