Schuerman completed high school and joined the California University of Pennsylvania. Afterward, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Science & Technology: Meteorology, and a Music minor. Schuerman works as a part-time meteorologist at WDIV. When he first joined the station, he worked as a freelance meteorologist. Prior to joining the station, in the mountains of West Virginia and across the Ohio Valley. Before arriving in Southeastern Michigan he worked in Indianapolis, Indiana as a high school Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher.

He supplemented acute and winter weather broadcasts in the studio before his promotion to a part-time meteorologist and worked as a feature weather reporter. Being a feature weather reporter, he delivered forecasts and broadcast events on the weekend mornings.

Schuerman served in Cincinnati, Clarksburg, Hagerstown, Louisville and Springfield. He broadcasted many major snowstorms and acute weather while in Cincinnati. For example; in 2012 he broadcasted Hurricane Sandy and Dayton/Trotwood, OH EF-4 Tornado in 2019.

In 2017, he worked on education stories in West Virginia before the nationwide teachers’ strike. In December 2018, he was awarded by the National Weather Association Broadcasters with their seal of approval. Schuerman has worked on the Steering Committee for the Human Rights Campaign-Cincinnati Chapter and the Student Association, Inc.

At the California University of Pennsylvania, he worked on the Alumni Association Board of Directors. He is also a teacher as he has worked at Grant Middle School in Springfield where he taught the 7th and 8th grades and at Lincoln Middle School in Shinnston as a Middle School Science Teacher.

In Aurora, he worked for South Dearborn High School as a Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher & FCCLA Chapter Adviser. Also, he worked in Indianapolis for Southport High School. There he earned the Publicizing Your Performance State Award.

He was named the 2017 National Association of Geoscience Teachers’ “Outstanding Earth Science Teacher of the Year” by West Virginia. For his work, he earned the American Meteorological Society Certified Teacher Seal (#32). Schuerman works on the Social Media Committee and the Diversity Committee.

Adding on to that, he is a member of the Gay Journalists Association, the American Meteorological Society, the National Association of Lesbian, and the National Weather Association. When he’s not at the desk, he either is enjoying time traveling to his favorite spots in Florida and new places or spending time with his friends, boyfriends, and family.
