D’Oench is a reporter for CBS4 News. Before joining the station he worked at WKRN in Nashville. He was an award-winning member of the WPLG News Team as a reporter from 1989 to 2004. In addition, he also worked as a producer for news, special projects, and the station’s Problem Solvers franchise from 2004-2007.
Before coming to WPLG, Peter worked for WTNH, New Haven as an anchor and reporter from 1984 to 1989; at WFTV, Orlando as a reporter from 1983 to 1984; at WCBS, New York City as a reporter and morning anchor from 1982 to 1983; at WSVN, Miami as a reporter from 1978 to 1982 and at KAMR, Amarillo, Texas as a reporter from 1977 to 1978.
D’Oench is the recipient of a number of prestigious honors and awards, including five Sunshine State Awards and a Silver Circle from the Society of Professional Journalists, a pair of awards from the Sigma Delta Chi honor society, a special citation from Mothers Against Drunk Driving, an Excellence in Reporting commendation from the New York City Overseas Press Club, a special citation from the Miami-Dade County PTA and a special commendation from former Florida Governor Bob Graham.
