Kardas works for NewsChannel 2 as a Chief Meteorologist. When he began working as a meteorologist he helped launch the Weekend Morning Show. Afterward, he made a lot of weather memories, tornadoes, large winter storms, tornadoes, and covering flooding. He is passionate about teaching. Each and every year, he visits dozens of schools and teaches a climatology course in the fall and spring at Herkimer College.
In 2006 he graduated with a B.S. in Atmospheric Science from SUNY Albany and from Mississippi State University he completed his master’s degree in Geoscience. From the National Weather Association, he holds a broadcaster seal. Kardas enjoys the outdoors, especially hiking.
In the Adirondacks and Catskill Park as well as most of the 46 high peaks he has climbed all 30 fire towers. Moreover, he’s a distance runner and has completed four marathons. the Boilermaker is his favorite road race which he has run every year since 2006.
