Givens works at CBS 13 as a meteorologist. Never in her wildest dreams did she think she would become a meteorologist? She was afraid of “bad” weather when she was a child. In Louisiana where wicked thunderstorms would roll through was where she spent her summers. She would crouch down on the floorboard of our sunshine yellow 1976 Chrysler, trying to hide from the lightning while driving from my grandmother’s home to my great-grandparents.
Since 1996 she has been in the Sacramento region developing great relationships with organizations that want to improve the lives of children. She worked for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Sacramento on the Board of Directors. Also, she worked with the young people at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Youth Summit.
Givens empowers young people with the confidence that they can achieve their goals as long as they work hard, stay focused, and stay persistent. During her free time, she loves spending time with my three boys. They enjoy playing board games, camping, and exploring.
