Upon joining the station, he initially served as a morning reporter and a multimedia journalist. Before KGTV, he served in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at KGAN/KFXA for a decade. While there, he served as a sports director and attained a pair of Emmys as the top sports anchor in the Upper Midwest area.
Moreover, he attained a number of awards from the Iowa Broadcast News Association and the Iowa Associated Press. Additionally, he provided coverage for a Masters, the Super Bowl, several college bowl games, and various NCAA tournaments. Also, he broadcasted numerous high school sports events spanning football and girls’ volleyball. He began his broadcasting career in Butte, Montana at KXLF.
During his time there, he served as a news and sports reporter, and anchor. Further, he concentrated on city government and economic development as the city tried to find its way through an economic decline.
