Chris Holcomb is an American meteorologist who is working for WXIA as the chief meteorologist since 2014. He joined the 11Alive team in 1991. Further, he has served the station for more than 3 decades.

Holcomb serves WXIA as the chief meteorologist since 2014. He joined the 11Alive team in 1991. Also, he can be watched on 11Alive Monday through Friday on the 5, 6, Primetime, and 11 p.m. newscasts on 11Alive and WATL. Further, he has served the station for more than 3 decades. Upon his graduation, he landed his initial job at WMAZ AM/WAYS FM radio as an afternoon news reporter.
9 months later, he migrated to the TV and served as a reporter and weather anchor for WMAZ-TV. While at WMAZ, he encountered every aspect of TV news reporting. Furthermore, he shot and edited his own stories, broadcasted the Legislature, and served as a substitute anchor, weekend weather anchor, and substitute weather anchor for the weekday morning and evening newscasts.
Moreover, he holds an AMS Seal of Approval. Additionally, he underwent strict testing and evaluations to earn the highly coveted Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation from the American Meteorological Society. Numerous times, he has been honored with Emmy awards for weather anchor. To boot, he attained Emmys for Spot News/Team broadcast and Special Continuous Coverage while pursuing storms.
Further, he attained Gabby Awards for Best Weather Coverage and Associated Press Awards for Best Weather Reporting. The Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia granted him the John Holliman Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019. The Lifetime Achievement Award honors sustained contributions to the profession during a career.
In addition to that, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation. For the past 2 decades, he serves as a reporter at the Race for Research. The first race was in memory of his sister who passed away as a result of a brain tumor. Also, he serves as an MC for numerous events in and around Atlanta. For instance, the Keep Georgia Beautiful Awards, and St. Jude’s Southern Evening of Hope.
Regularly, he talks about the weather at many schools. Moreover, he serves as a top social contributor in Atlanta.
Chris has been married to Angie Holcomb for 28 years. They have 2 children. Their son Griffin works in the finance industry in New York. Their daughter Claire is a Junior at The University of Georgia. Chris and Angie have attended North Metro Baptist Church in Lawrenceville for 28 years.
