Diez serves WXIA as a reporter and a weekend anchor of 11Alive Morning News. She joined 11Alive in July 2017. Upon joining the station, she initially, served as a multimedia journalist. Further, she has served the station for more than half a decade. Additionally, she served as a vital part of the newscast awarded 2018’s Emmy for Best Morning Newscast for a 2-hour broadcast of the looming hurricane, Hurricane Michael, in the Gulf of Mexico.

Moreover, she served as the only live reporter on the scene in Panama City Beach. While there, she gave minute-by-minute updates on live evacuation orders, sirens, and rising waters for the only Category 5 hurricane to hit the Gulf. When the weather was too threatening to broadcast, she live-streamed from her phone and posted updates on social media.

Also, she served as the only live reporter to broadcast from Tybee Island as Hurricane Irma impacted the Georgia coast. During the past various years, she has distinguished herself as a multi-skilled journalist, who finds, writes, shoots, and edits all her own stories.  In her time at WXIA, she generated a weekly series that tackles the station’s headline, Behind the Headline. Also, she serves as a substitute anchor.

In addition to that, she served in Augusta at e CBS/NBC station, WRDW/WAGT as an anchor and reporter for 5 years. To boot, she spent three nights on the floor of the Emergency Operations Center when an ice storm crippled the city and provided 24/7 updates reports. Else, she interviewed former National Guard General, now U.S. Attorney, Bobby Christine, and Gov. Nathan Deal as they observed the ruin. Further, she was awarded for her investigation into a lethal fire at a retirement community and assisted change standards for building codes in the region.

Through her stories, she attained awards for Best General Reporting, Best Specialized Reporting, Best Sports Feature, Best Feature Reporting, and Best Sports Program. She got all this when she was serving as one of the hosts for a weekly local high school football show, Operation Football Live. Moreover, she attained one-on-one interviews with civil public figures.

For instance, civil rights icon, Ambassador Andrew Young on his return to the pulpit, Attorney General Chris Carr on Atlanta’s sex trafficking plague, and interviewed students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School throughout the March for Our Lives in Washington, D.C. Further, she rode on a charter bus from Atlanta to Pasadena, California as she documented one group’s memorable ride to cheer on the University of Georgia Bulldogs in the Rose Bowl.

Using a headlamp, she edited and shot all her stories while on the bus for 37 solid hours. On a side note, she joined the Runner Cam Team for the Peachtree Road Race.
