Jason Simpson is an American Meteorologist working for WBMA/ABC 33/40 in Hoover, Alabama as a Weather Forecaster. Prior to this, he was working with WHNT-TV and left the station in October 2021.

Together with his wife, the duo are proud parents to their three children, Brody, Shelby, and Walt. Brody was born with a serious heart condition that nearly killed him in a few hours. He was lucky to be saved by trained doctors at the Children’s of Alabama. This situation changed Jason and his wife’s perspective toward life. Their son, is, however, now healed and in good health.
After this incident, they joined three other families and formed “heart families” in Albania. Every year, the organization hosts tournaments for fishing at Scottsboro in order to raise money for the Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center for Children of Alabama.

The Holly Pond, Cullman County native attended Holly Pond High School in the year 1988. While there, he attended Wallace State Community College for about a year. After this, he attended Mississippi State University where he obtained a Degree in Broadcast Meteorology. During her time in college, he interned in the weather office at ABC 33/40. Asides from this, he was working part-time at WTOK-TV in Meridian, Mississippi as a weekend meteorologist.

Simpson works with WBMA/ABC 33/40 where he was serving the station as a Weather Forecaster. He states that meteorology is a science and has always been fascinated by meteorology. Since he was a child, his life has revolved around the weather. He states that he got prepared for his television weather career by the Blizzard of 1993, and the Cullman Tornado of 1988 among other weather events.
After graduating from college at the top of his class, he made a move to KMIZ-TV in Columbia, Missouri where he went on to anchor the Morning Weather. Later on, he made a return to Meridian where he was working as a Chief Meteorologist.
In the course of his career, he has covered many important weather events which include snowstorms, numerous tornadoes, and hurricanes. He has been privileged to cover the fatal tornado in Tuscaloosa on the 16th of December 2000.
Asides from this, he was in the field during the tornado outbreak on the 24th of November 2004. The outbreak of the tornado produced large twisters in Alabama and Mississippi. His experience in the field also includes two weeks in the Great Plains studying severe thunderstorms and tornadoes.
The year 2004 saw him being awarded the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval for excellence in television weather. His love for the weather and for Alabama is what made him make Birmingham home. He states that he is happy to bring the forecast every morning on Good Morning Alabama and the Midday News.
